Vaccine Anyone?????

One of the blogs I enjoy reading had a post about the swine flu vaccine. She also included a news clip from Fox that was very good. The info shared by the doctor on Fox sure isn't what I'm used to hearing - are you???? Check it out here.

I couldn't resist putting these pics of the kids with the cute little pigs in here. Hey, it's slightly on topics :-)

Hmmm...notice that there are no facts or links to actual research or studies in that post.

A quick search online found this:

Re: "The vaccine production was "rushed" and the vaccine has never been tested on humans"

http://www3.niaid.nih.gov/topics/Flu/H1N1/

Also, as I understand it the vaccine preparation methods are the same for any flu vaccine, it's just the strain of the flu in the vaccine that is different.

Re: "The swine flu vaccine could actually increase your risk of death from swine flu..."

The Internet’s facility for amplifying rumors has also played a role. One still unpublished report from Canada suggests that seasonal-flu shots could make people more susceptible to H1N1. Never mind that it is based on data that nobody has studied extensively, and that the findings have not been reproduced in any other study. Re: "No swine flu vaccine works as well as vitamin D to protect you from influenza."

I didn't even bother searching! c'mon!

Anyway...good luck! Lots of info to sort out. Personally, I think the risk of not getting the vaccine (search Google News for "H1N1 death") outweighs the very small risks associated with it.

Just my 2 cents.

Thankfully, we have already made our decision in regards to vaccines so don't have to wade through all the "stuff" out there. It does seem that media is so dramatic about swine flu and hype it up continually so I find it interesting to see a news clip playing it down and being more cautious about the vaccine. The truth of the matter is you can make any data fit your convictions - whether for something or against. I know that "good" info is in the eyes of the beholder and that this debate will always have those on the "yes" side and those on the "no". I only hope that whatever decision people make they knows WHY they are making it (of course this applies to all choices we make). I appreciated your 2 cents Chris and enjoyed reading your links. In my opinion, information - no matter what side it represents - will always help a person make more informed decisions.
